Bachelor of Engineering – Sustainable Design Engineering (International Students) only accepts applications from International Students.

The Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE) program is a four-year bachelor’s degree that emphasizes sustainability in engineering. It offers majors in Land Development and Building Design and Construction, with foundational studies in mathematics and science to build engineering design, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Sustainability concepts are integrated throughout the program and reinforced through project-based learning and mandatory co-op education. Students will gain hands-on experience in Conestoga College’s state-of-the-art facilities, using the latest software and equipment to develop the skills needed for success in this emerging field.

The SDE program focuses on integrating environmental, economic, and societal impacts with core engineering principles during the planning and design phases, continuing through project implementation and operations. With a broader, systems-level approach, students gain a holistic understanding of real-world engineering projects and interdisciplinary intersections. The program meets all requirements of the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB) and is expected to receive CEAB accreditation upon the graduation of its first cohort.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), or equivalent, OR 19 years of age or older.
  • For students with transcripts from outside of Canada, a comprehensive course-by-course credential evaluation is required.

What You’ll Learn

  • Use university-level math, natural sciences, and engineering principles to address sustainability in new and existing systems.
  • Apply critical thinking to identify and solve complex engineering problems, backed by thorough research.
  • Conduct investigations on civil, electrical, or mechanical systems, using research methods and data analysis to reach evidence-based conclusions.
  • Transform ideas into engineering solutions that meet stakeholder needs, considering health, safety, standards, codes, and various constraints.
  • Design, model, analyze, and implement sustainable systems that meet specifications, aligning with societal and industry practices and future trends.
  • Develop and apply modern engineering tools and techniques for sustainable system design, evaluation, and implementation.

This program has been very poorly administered from a scheduling standpoint.

The course is divided into 5 levels with scheduled breaks between each level. When Levels 3 and 4 became available, I registered and arranged my vacation time with work around the published schedule and the week break between levels.

Only one week before Level 3 was supposed to begin, the start date was delayed by a week. This now places my previously approved vacation during the final week of the level.

What is even more frustrating is that there has been no clear communication on whether the remaining levels will also shift by a week or whether they plan to remove the scheduled break between Levels 3 and 4 entirely.

Most students in part-time evening programs are balancing work and personal commitments, so reliable scheduling and timely communication are important. Delays can happen, but changing dates with very little notice and failing to provide a clear updated schedule shows a lack of organization and consideration for students.

conestoga refuses to give me back my money due to the fact that i didnt withdrew on time, despite showing my health related isses why i was unable to withdrew on time, they still refuses which means to me that they dont really care about international student wellbeing. Also, during exams i didnt know the camera didnt caption my student card properly, despite the professor seeing me bring it out of my pocket i was giving zero for someone learning how to use computer to write exams for the first time, because of that i have to pay addictional $1000+ to rewrite the course just because the camera didnt capture the card properly how ridiculous. Conestoga will do anything to rip international student. I wont recommend this school even to my enemy.
