Students can earn an Ontario College Graduate Certificate in as few as two semesters at Algonquin College. In the Victimology program, students will be prepared to work in several fields that support victims of crimes.
This fast-paced program trains students in the specialized knowledge and skills required when working with victim services directly. When combining Algonquin’s theoretical learning with the applied learning from direct work experience, students will develop knowledge of crisis response, sudden traumatic loss, and victim populations. Practicum options include victim crisis units, police, advocacy centres, and Indigenous healing centres, among others.
This program is also offered as a part time, online program.
Admission Requirements
- Ontario College Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Degree, or equivalent in a Medical, Legal, or Social Services field.
- English language proficiency test.

- Interaction techniques for various types of victims.
- How victims are portrayed in media.
- How being a victim impacts men, women, children, and various communities differently.
