York University’s engineering program begins with a common foundation year in which all students explore fundamental engineering disciplines before selecting a specialization in their second year. However, students who know what they want to study in the future can opt for the Engineering Program Guarantee, part of the boost co-application offered by York.
Students study core courses in mathematics, physics, engineering design, computing, and communication, gaining exposure to multiple engineering streams like Civil, Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, and Space Engineering.
York’s Bergeron Centre for Engineering Excellence features flexible learning spaces, fewer traditional lecture halls, and a focus on team-based learning. On top of coursework, students have opportunities for internships or co-op placements with industry partners.
