The Addiction Worker diploma program at triOS College equips students with the knowledge, skills, and professional certifications needed to support individuals and families affected by substance use. Through a combination of theoretical study and practical training, students explore addiction principles, pharmacology, relapse prevention, and trauma-informed care, while developing competencies in intake, assessment, case management, motivational interviewing, and counselling techniques. The curriculum also emphasizes family dynamics, lifespan psychology, priority populations, and addiction-related crime, preparing graduates to work effectively with diverse clients and communities.
In addition to core training, students gain industry-recognized certifications, including Verbal Intervention, Trauma and Violence Informed Care, Naloxone Administration, Positive Space Training, Helping Trafficked Persons, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and CPR/First Aid. The program also focuses on professional development, ethics, client-centered communication, and self-care strategies to manage secondary traumatic stress.
