Eastern College’s Accounting and Payroll Specialist program is designed to give learners the practical, industry-relevant skills employers look for while still offering the flexibility today’s students need. Through online delivery options—whether live, instructor-led classes or self-paced study with facilitator support—students can choose the learning format that best fits their schedule and goals. The curriculum builds from essential business communication, digital literacy, and career preparation into core accounting competencies, including budgeting, cash flow analysis, general ledger management, and software training widely used by Canadian employers.

A strong focus on payroll legislation and compliance prepares learners to handle payroll calculations, deductions, and record management with accuracy, supporting readiness for the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation. The program also emphasizes workplace readiness with targeted career development support and culminates in an eight-week internship, giving students the chance to apply their new skills in a real-world accounting or payroll environment. Graduates emerge with practical experience, professional confidence, and the credentials needed to begin their careers in the field.

A 200-hour internship option is available.

What impressed me most was the school’s focus on practical application and critical thinking. They constantly encouraged us to step outside the theoretical and apply what we learned. It definitely shaped how I approach problem-solving now.
