Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Thompson Rivers University’s Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program is a nationally accredited degree designed to prepare students for professional practice in the diverse and evolving field of social work. The program builds on students’ prior education and experiences while fostering a strong foundation in social justice, equity, and interdependence. It is shaped by a commitment to honouring the socio-cultural and geopolitical context of its learning environment, including respect for the Secwépemc Nation and Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.

The program is grounded in a commitment to addressing social, economic, and environmental injustices through reflective and action-oriented practice. Students are supported in becoming globally informed and locally engaged practitioners who can contribute meaningfully to individual and community well-being. Through collaborative learning and critical dialogue, the program emphasizes accountability, relationship-building, and transformative practice, preparing graduates to advocate for change and support diverse populations across a range of social work settings.

Admission Requirements

• 60 credits of transferable University coursework.
