Université du Québec à Montréal’s Bachelor of Social Work program prepares students to become critical, skilled, and socially engaged professionals dedicated to supporting individuals, families, groups, and communities experiencing social difficulties and oppression. The program emphasizes the promotion of self-determination, social justice, and the reduction of inequalities while encouraging students to understand the complex relationship between individuals and broader social structures. Through the study of poverty, social insecurity, intercultural realities, and emerging social issues, students develop the knowledge and perspective needed to advocate for meaningful social change and improved quality of life.

The program combines theoretical learning, methodological training, and practical experience to provide a well-rounded education in social work practice. During the first two years, students build foundational knowledge and intervention skills, while the third year focuses primarily on an internship in institutional or community settings. Students are encouraged to engage in critical reflection, explore innovative approaches to social intervention, and analyze the evolving role of social workers within society. The program also offers opportunities to specialize in intervention with individuals and groups or community-focused intervention, helping graduates prepare for diverse professional pathways in the field of social work.
