Université de Moncton’s Master of Social Work program is designed to deepen students’ critical understanding of the theoretical and ethical foundations of social work practice. The program emphasizes the analysis of social policies and how they are implemented in specific contexts, while encouraging students to engage thoughtfully with the values and principles that guide the profession. Through advanced study, students develop the ability to critically examine social issues and contribute meaningfully to discussions on justice, equity, and social change.
A strong focus is placed on research and scholarly inquiry, enabling students to make an original contribution to knowledge in the field of social work. Students engage in qualitative research methods, policy analysis, and advanced seminars that explore topics such as social movements, collective identity, feminism, and ethics in social work. The program culminates in a major thesis, where students investigate a relevant social issue in depth, integrating theory, methodology, and critical reflection to produce meaningful academic and professional insights.
