Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy

Yorkville University’s Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy is Canada’s only professional doctorate in counselling and psychotherapy. The fully online program can be completed in as few as 3.5 years, allowing experienced clinicians to continue working while advancing their education and professional expertise.

Designed for practicing professionals, the program develops specialized capabilities in clinical supervision, mentorship, leadership, and complex case conceptualization, with learning that can be applied directly to professional practice. Through an Applied Scholarship Project, students develop real-world solutions that can contribute to stronger counselling practices, supervision, and mental health systems across Canada.

Admission Requirements

• Completed online application and $150 application fee.
• Official master’s transcript and proof of a master’s degree.
• Two years of post-master’s-degree counselling experience.
• Resume and letter of intent.
• Two academic or professional references.
• Proof of English language proficiency for degrees completed in a language other than English.
