CareerFoundry’s Intro to UI Design course is designed as a short introduction to help learners get an overview of the field and help to understand if UI Design is the right career. Students will acquire in-demand professional skills through building a real-life project for their portfolio.
This course offers the opportunity to dive straight into practicing and refining core design skills with an industry-standard tool. Students start with basic layers and shapes before styling designs with text, color, and advanced elements. By the end of the course, students have a set of pixel-perfect mockups and an interactive prototype for their design portfolio.
What You’ll Learn
- Differentiate the responsibilities of a UI designer and a UX designer.
- Navigate the interface and basic functions of popular UI design tools.
- Use shapes and layers in popular UI design tools to create screens for an app.
- Point Types & Boolean Operations, using shapes to create icons for an app.
- Visual Design Basics, apply visual design basics to screens for an app.
- Apply text styles to screens for an app.
- Advanced Design Tool Features creating a grid on which to build an app icon.
- Pixel Precision, applying principles of pixel precision to UI elements.
As this Intro course constitutes the first Achievement of CareerFoundry’s more comprehensive UI Design career change program, it is also possible to sign up for “Intro to UI Design” first and then upgrade to the full program later—in this case, students will be reimbursed $780 back towards the cost of the full program.
