Product Design Program

In this program students learn all the job skills, tools, and processes needed to become a qualified Product Designer—with a job guarantee to boot. Learners receive individualized mentorship through CareerFoundry’s dual mentorship model that pairs students with not one but two Product Design professionals to support, advise, and give feedback throughout the program.

CareerFoundry’s curriculum is expert-authored and built entirely in-house. The learning experience this provides is rigorous, project-based, and adaptive—designed to empower students to acquire all the job-ready skills needed to break into a new career.

The full journey is split into four parts: Intro to Product Design, Product Design Immersion, a choice of one specialization (User Interface Design for Designers, Frontend Development for Designers, or Voice User Interface Design), and Job Preparation. This setup ensures students start out with the basics, and finish as an expert in Product Design with a professional portfolio with real-world projects to set learners apart in the job market. Students also have a solid approach to their job search, and the ongoing support of CareerFoundry’s Career Services Team as they apply for jobs and prepare for interviews.

What You’ll Learn

• The entire Product Design process, from identifying user needs and mapping user journeys, to prototyping and bringing your designs to life, to testing and refining your designs, and launching a marketable product.
• You’ll​ ​explore​ ​ the most important tasks of a product designer​ ​and​ ​apply​ ​it​ ​to​ ​your​ ​own​ ​product,​ ​from​ ​information​ ​architecture,​ ​user​ ​flows,​ ​and paper​ ​prototypes​ ​to​ ​user​ ​testing,​ meeting ​accessibility guidelines ​and​ ​high-fidelity​ ​wireframes.
• How to build an impressive portfolio out of the real-world projects you complete during the program. You’ll also work on publishing your online portfolio and creating a video demo of your work.
• How and when to use the industry standard tool of choice, namely Figma, but students can use Adobe XD and Sketch as alternative tools if preferred (as the program is designed to be tool agnostic). You’ll also learn ethical best practices for product design and learn how to leverage AI tools and techniques, so it supports you professionally, rather than replaces you.
