The University of Lethbridge’s Addictions Counselling program is a one-of-a-kind program in Canada that offers students the knowledge, skills, and training required to guide others through the addiction recovery process.

Learners will get practical skills and theoretical knowledge that is needed in treatment, prevention, and health promotion where addiction impacts peoples lives. Specifically, this program focuses on addictive behaviours and intervention strategies, including substances such as alcohol and drugs, gambling, sexual disorders, and eating disorders.

After competing this four-year program, graduates will be on the path to being an addictions counsellor, child and adolescent psychotherapist, mental health counsellor, or withdrawal management counsellor, among many other possible positions.

Admission Requirements 

  • English Language Arts 30-1.
  • Three credits in art, biology, chemistry, music, dane, drama, math, physics, science, social studies.
  • Five credits in Advanced-level CTS Computer Science.
  • One or more distinct languages at the 30 level.
