Training and education in cybersecurity falls far short of current needs, and what will be required in the future. Worldwide by 2021, there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity positions. Such skills shortage leaves the public, private sectors, and governments vulnerable. Moreover, the global cost of cyber- attacks is believed to grow to $2.1 trillion by 2020. With these figures in mind, we need to develop talent in Cybersecurity – and fast! The Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) at the University of New Brunswick is using 20+ years of cyber- security innovation and talent development to provide a one-year Master of Applied Cybersecurity (MACSec).

The Faculty of Computer Science and CIC are partnering to develop talent – ready to contribute as cybersecurity experts.

The program is structured in three semesters (Fall, Winter, and Summer) for a total duration of one year. The topics explored throughout the graduate program in cybersecurity include:

  • Advanced data communications and networking
  • Cryptanalysis and database security
  • Fundamentals of information assurance
  • Foundations of privacy
  • Network security
  • Software security
  • Digital forensics elective + capstone project
  • Condensed training, R&D project

Only thing is, networking isn’t as easy online, and you’ll need to be self-motivated to stay on track. But if you’re looking for a solid, flexible MBA that won’t break the bank, UNB’s a great option.
