Students enrolled at the University of Guelph’s Bachelor of Engineering share a common first year program, meaning they experience a wide breadth of what engineering has to offer. Through hands-on, multidisciplinary learning, students explore a variety of engineering fields before they choose their major in their second year.

Students will work on interdisciplinary design teams from their first year all the way through to their capstone project at the end of their program. Co-ops and internship placements are available for each major, providing valuable, real-world experiences throughout the program.

Learners can pick from biological, biomedical, civil, computer, engineering systems and computing, environmental, mechanical, mechatronics, or water resources engineering to specialize in for their second year and beyond.

Admission Requirements

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six 4U.M courses.
  • University level English.
  • Advanced Functions, Calculus and Vectors, Chemistry, Physics, and one additional U or M course.

What You’ll Learn

  • Core engineering principles in math, science, design, and computing, applied across multiple disciplines.
  • Teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills through design projects in every year of study.
  • Practical industry experience and career readiness through co-op placements and a final-year capstone project.
