Eastern College’s Paralegal program prepares students for a vital role within Canada’s legal system, where skilled paralegals are in high demand across law firms, courts, and corporate legal departments. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in legal research, document preparation, file and records management, and professional ethics, while introducing key areas of law such as civil litigation, criminal law, family law, real estate, corporate and commercial law, and wills and estates. Students gain hands-on experience drafting legal documents, conducting interviews, and supporting legal proceedings, ensuring they are confident and job-ready upon graduation.
Offered at multiple locations across Atlantic Canada, the program is available on campus in Halifax and through online remote learning in New Brunswick, with access to campus support in Moncton, Fredericton, and Saint John. Courses such as Law Office Procedures, Legal Ethics, Interviewing, Researching & Writing, Civil Litigation, Criminal Law and Summary Conviction Procedure, and IT in the Law Office combine practical training with legal theory. Supported by career planning courses and a field placement, graduates are well prepared to contribute effectively in professional legal environments and build rewarding careers as paralegals.

The instructors are absolutely wonderful to work with online. The address all concerns quickly and they help you to succeed.
What impressed me most was the school’s focus on practical application and critical thinking. They constantly encouraged us to step outside the theoretical and apply what we learned. It definitely shaped how I approach problem-solving now.
