Mohawk College’s Business – Accounting program provides students with a comprehensive education in financial management, covering everything from basic bookkeeping to advanced financial analysis. The program is designed to equip students with the essential skills needed for a successful career in accounting, using industry-standard software such as QuickBooks Online, UFile tax preparation software, and advanced Microsoft Excel. Students have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through an optional one-year co-op program, offering valuable real-world exposure.

Graduates of the program can transfer into the third year of the Business Administration – Accounting Advanced Diploma or continue their studies toward obtaining a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, with transfer options to degree-granting institutions. The program is taught by experienced faculty members, including professionals withCPA) designations, who bring real-life insights into the classroom. With employment opportunities in various roles across multiple industries, students will learn how accounting serves as a critical information system for planning and controlling business operations, preparing them for a wide range of careers in the field.

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Record financial transactions in compliance with Canadian GAAP for various types of organizations.
  • Prepare and present financial statements and reports in accordance with Canadian GAAP for businesses and non-profits.
  • Apply management accounting concepts to support decision-making.
  • Prepare individual income tax returns and provide basic tax planning in compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Analyze organizational structures and the impact of interdepartmental relationships on financial performance.
  • Evaluate the impact of economic, legal, ethical, technological, and environmental factors on an organization’s operations.
  • Outline the components of an organization’s internal control system and risk management.
  • Use financial management concepts to support ongoing decision-making.

This is my second time attending this college, when I attended years ago it was a very different experience. The school held many events, frosh week was always a blast, the campus is massive, free gym membership on campus, and they have great selection...

This is my second time attending this college, when I attended years ago it was a very different experience. The school held many events, frosh week was always a blast, the campus is massive, free gym membership on campus, and they have great selection of food, downside was parking was usually a nightmare. This year is a bit different, with classes online its a bit hectic, confusing and I knew it would be. In my course the professors are very supportive, the layout is making a bit more sense each day, the it department have been fantastic. One thing I will say is that it can be a bit difficult to get some answers from certain departments, but my course professors are doing a great job so far!
