Theatre Arts

The Theatre Arts program at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) offers students a comprehensive and immersive education in the world of theatre. With instruction from a faculty of accomplished actors, directors, and playwrights, the program provides students with a well-rounded foundation in both performance and production.

Students in the Theatre Arts program will explore a diverse range of acting techniques and have the opportunity to perform in full-scale theatrical productions staged in the TRU Actors Workshop Theatre. The curriculum includes specialized training in voice, movement, improvisation, stage combat (including sword-fighting), dance, and acting for live audiences.

Beyond performance skills, students are encouraged to become creators, contributing to all aspects of a production. Whether acting, directing, or designing, the program fosters a collaborative environment where students can develop their creative abilities across multiple disciplines of theatre.

With a hands-on approach and real-world experience, TRU’s Theatre Arts program prepares students to pursue careers in the performing arts, offering the skills needed to succeed both on and off the stage.
