In these advanced photography courses, students delve into a chosen photographic discipline, with projects tailored to their specialization, which may include fashion, food, architecture, product, and portrait photography. As a result, students will graduate with a professional portfolio aligned with their career goals. They will also develop advanced photography and post-production skills, including color management strategies, still and motion imagery, lighting techniques, and experience in both studio and location environments, presented in printed and online formats.
Students will focus on their chosen discipline, leading to a professional portfolio that reflects their aspirations. Given that photography is an innovative and entrepreneurial field, students will gain practical experience in marketing and job pricing by working with real clients through an on-campus service center that provides photography services to the local community.
Throughout the year, students will make valuable industry connections through field trips to meet photography professionals and attend trade shows and conferences to explore new products and emerging trends in photography.
This program is designed for students with a solid foundation in DSLR camera operation who wish to develop their creativity to a professional standard and compete effectively in the photography field.
What You’ll Learn
- Capture still and motion imagery using a broad range of camera equipment, lighting techniques and procedures to suit project requirements.
- Create professional still and motion imagery in both studio and location environments using knowledge of contemporary processes, procedures, visual styles.
- Implement colour management strategies to create and maintain a properly colour calibrated work environment which complies with established standards.
- Create still and motion imagery through the editing of image characteristics, retouching techniques and composite creation using to professional standards in both printed and on-line presentation formats.
- Develop business procedures for photography and video projects, including requirements and deliverables, budgetary considerations, pricing and contract management, to ensure profitability.
