The high fidelity labs are equipped with interactive mannequins that speak and replicate real symptoms, on which students act out common medical emergencies. Training culminates with a seven-week, pre-graduate placement experience working with a registered practical nurse. Graduates are sought after all over the world working independently or as part of a health care team.

  • Communicate therapeutically with clients and members of the health care team.
  • Assess clients across the life span, in a systematic and holistic manner.
  • Plan safe and competent nursing care, based upon a thorough analysis of available data and evidence-informed practice guidelines.
  • Select and perform nursing interventions using clinical judgment, in collaboration with the client and, where appropriate, the health care team, to promote health and well-being, prevent disease and injury, maintain and/or restore health, promote rehabilitation, and/or provide palliation.
  • Evaluate the outcomes resulting from all interventions in the nurse-client interaction and modify the plan of care as required.
  • Act equitably and justly with clients and members of the health care team.
  • Adapt to a variety of health care settings, using different leadership skills and styles as appropriate to each setting.
  • Contribute to creating a healthy and safe work environment in a variety of health care settings.
  • Practise in a self-regulated, professional and ethical manner, complying with relevant legislation and with the standards of both the regulatory body and the practice setting to provide safe and competent clientcare.

Pros
- The education in the skilled trades is really good at Canadore. Many students travel to take aviation and culinary programs. My construction program was worth the trip.

Pros
- The education in the skilled trades is really good at Canadore. Many students travel to take aviation and culinary programs. My construction program was worth the trip.
- Instructors are very good and they care about you as a student.
- The focus on jobs is also a big part of the school. Lots of manual training and preparation for work.
- The college is attached to Nippising University and students benefit from the facilities and instructors.

Cons
- It's cold! It's cold and it's remote. The school is located in North Bay, in Northern Ontario. If you are from a big city, like I was when I went to Canadore, it can be a slow pace with not a lot going on. Make sure you find your friends or at least a study group and be prepared to focus on your work.
