Mobile Application Design and Development

The Mobile Application Design and Development program at Algonquin College prepares students to turn their interest in mobile technology into a career in the rapidly growing field of application development. This two-year Ontario College Diploma program provides a strong foundation in designing and developing mobile and web-based solutions used across industries such as technology, healthcare, finance, education, marketing, and government. Students learn how to create mobile website interfaces for a range of devices and platforms while developing the technical skills needed to build native, cross-platform, and web applications.

The program emphasizes hands-on learning and practical application of skills across areas such as full-stack web development, progressive web apps, UI and UX design, and responsive web design. Students also gain exposure to business and marketing concepts that support the successful development and launch of digital products. In the final semester, learners work in teams to develop a real-world mobile solution for an industry client, participating in the full development lifecycle including analysis, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. This experience helps graduates build both technical expertise and collaborative skills needed to succeed in the mobile development industry.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
