The University of Northern British Columbia offers a Civil Engineering program that will provide students with a thorough education on design, construction, and maintenance required for much of modern society’s infrastructure. Learners will not only gain an understanding of how these buildings are created, but even more importantly, how they deteriorate, and ways to minimize and repair damages.

Core principles in geotechnical, environmental, and transportation engineering, as well as sustainable development will be instilled in students as they get practical hands on work with co-ops and work placements.

With a higher-than-usual average age for engineers in the province, graduates are critical to the local economy, and in increasingly high demand, making UNBC a great place to pursue this degree.

Admission Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Pre-Calculus 12, with an average of at least 67 percent.
  • Grade 12 Chemistry and Physics.

What You’ll Learn

  • Design, analyze, and manage civil engineering projects across structures, geotechnical, environmental, and transportation systems.
  • Hands-on experience through labs, design projects, and co-op work terms.
  • Problem solving, teamwork, and professional engineering skills for careers in diverse environments, including northern and remote communities.
