Pursuing a Master of Social Work at University of Regina provides advanced education in social work theory, human service delivery, social policy analysis, and social welfare research. As Saskatchewan’s only Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE-ACFTS) accredited Master of Social Work program, the degree emphasizes the interconnectedness between direct social work practice, social research, policy development, and social administration. Students gain deeper insight into working with diverse populations while exploring complex social issues such as mental health, addiction, end-of-life care, immigration, Indigenous issues, and 2SLGBTQ+ human rights through qualitative and quantitative research methods.

The program offers opportunities for both research and real-world practice through practicum or thesis-based learning pathways tailored to individual interests and career goals. Students benefit from close faculty mentorship, community partnerships, and hands-on experience in areas such as policy analysis, program evaluation, applied research, and advanced social work intervention strategies. With strong connections to community, clinical, and policy organizations across Canada, the program prepares students to become skilled leaders, advocates, and practitioners committed to social justice and meaningful community impact.
