The Bachelor of Social Work program at University of New Brunswick equips students with the knowledge, practical experience, and professional qualifications needed for careers in the social services sector and further educational advancement in social work. The program prepares graduates for a wide range of professional opportunities, including eligibility for membership as professional social workers and admission to graduate studies. Through a combination of academic coursework and experiential learning, students develop a strong foundation in social development, advocacy, and critical evaluation of service accessibility and equity within communities and institutions.

The program emphasizes field education and hands-on training through partnerships with community organizations, allowing students to engage directly with practicing social workers, individuals, families, and groups. Students build essential written, verbal, intercultural communication, research, and information literacy skills while exploring anti-racist, ecologically sustainable, and socially responsive approaches to practice. The curriculum fosters a comprehensive understanding of historical and contemporary social justice issues, including the impacts of colonialism on Indigenous peoples, anti-Black racism, discrimination toward 2SLGBTQ+ communities, and systemic inequities affecting Francophone cultures. Together, these experiences support the development of students’ professional identity and prepare them to contribute to meaningful organizational and societal change through future policy and practice.

Only thing is, networking isn’t as easy online, and you’ll need to be self-motivated to stay on track. But if you’re looking for a solid, flexible MBA that won’t break the bank, UNB’s a great option.
