Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training

This program equips graduates with essential skills in fire suppression, medical first response, fire prevention, public education, and specialized training in vehicle extrication and environmental hazards. Students complete over 250 hours of hands-on practice and testing in simulated and controlled live fire scenarios, following National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards.

The curriculum is based on NFPA standards and includes additional components tailored to enhance employability in the fire service.

Graduates of the Pre-Service Firefighter Education & Training program are eligible to take the OFMEM Provincial Firefighter Testing to obtain NFPA 1001 Level I and II and NFPA 1072 Awareness and Core Operations certifications.

The Fire School Campus is the largest live fire training centre in the country. It includes a hot tower, search and rescue tower, several emergency response tools, and an expansive training ground. It is located 14km from Lambton’s main campus.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
• Grade 12 English, college or university
• Grade 11 or 12 Math, college or university
• Grade 11 or 12 Chemistry
