The Bachelor of Social Work program at Memorial University of Newfoundland prepares students to create meaningful change in the lives of individuals, families, communities, and society. Accredited by the Canadian Association of Social Work Education (CASWE), the program meets national standards for professional social work education and prepares graduates to pursue professional registration as social workers in Canada. The curriculum combines academic study with practical application, providing students with a strong foundation in social work theory, ethics, advocacy, and professional practice.

Students benefit from extensive experiential learning opportunities through two 350-hour field practica, where they apply classroom knowledge in real-world professional settings while building valuable connections with social work practitioners across Newfoundland and Labrador and beyond. The 120-credit-hour degree includes 75 professional education credits from the School of Social Work alongside 45 general education credits from complementary studies, ensuring students develop both specialized social work competencies and a broad interdisciplinary understanding. I've had a really positive experience. The program covers all the essentials — accounting, marketing, management — while also encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving in real-world business scenarios. I’ve enjoyed the hands-on projects and chances to collaborate with local businesses, which have boosted both my skills and confidence.

I’m really glad I chose the Engineering program at Memorial University of Newfoundland. It’s challenging but rewarding, with a great balance of theory and paid co-op work terms that give you real experience before you graduate.

The professors are knowledgeable, and there’s a strong community feel in labs and projects. It’s a respected, accredited program, and while it’s demanding, it’s absolutely worth it if you’re serious about becoming an engineer.
