BCIT’s Applied Visual Analytics with Tableau course provides hands-on training in data visualization and business intelligence, helping participants transform complex datasets into clear, interactive visuals and compelling data stories. The course introduces data visualization principles, effective analysis techniques, storytelling best practices, and dashboard performance considerations. It is designed for database professionals, data analysts, business analysts, and managers who want to analyze and communicate insights from a variety of data sources.

Through hands-on labs, assignments, projects, and group work, participants learn to create interactive graphs, reports, and dashboards using Tableau and built-in trend analysis tools. The course also explores the responsible use of generative AI and critical evaluation of AI-generated content. Participants receive a Tableau student license for the duration of the course and have access to an experienced Tableau subject matter expert, while a project presentation provides an opportunity to strengthen data communication skills.

In my opinion, it's a world-class facility when it comes to teaching trades and technology. I've taken a lot of post-secondary education at more places than I care to admit, and the courses I took at BCIT were among the best overall.

I took a variety of classes in Business Admin and then - a few years later - in Web Design. When I left the classes, I felt as though I'd really learned something useful that I could apply right away. (Other places tend to give you a lot of theory, but you're not always confident that you could apply those skills right away.)

I worked in the Human Resources sector for a few years, and someone with a BCIT program on their resume was someone whose resume got read. If you have a chance to study there, take it.
