To equip marketers with a path to advancement and the tools they need to navigate the shifting marketing landscape, the CMA developed the Chartered Marketer (CM) – the only marketing designation in Canada. The CM is a powerful signal to employers and the broader business community that marketing is indeed an area of expertise. It’s also an impactful way to help further build credibility for the marketing profession.

Designed in collaboration with leading industry experts and educators, the full online CM program covers a broad range of topics including research and insights, financial management, campaign development, marketing technologies, and more. The curriculum is comprehensive and immersive, offering participants unparalleled opportunities to engage with each other and the content while learning from an experienced team of instructors.

Recognizing the diverse backgrounds and expertise levels of marketing professionals, the CMA offers accelerated pathways, making the journey to achieve the CM designation more streamlined than ever.

By achieving the CM designation, learners are not only acquiring the skillset that top employers demand but also positioning themself as a well-rounded marketer and strategic business thinker prepared for whatever the marketing world throws their way.

Students are required to complete 1-2 courses from below plus the Summit and Compliance for Marketers.

Admission Requirements

  • Marketing diploma/degree and a minimum of 1 year of verifiable marketing experience.
  • Marketing in Canada course as mandatory prerequisite for applicants with less than one year of marketing experience in Canada.

CM courses may include:

  • Tools for Success: Set yourself up to think strategically like a marketer
  • Finance and Campaign Execution: Sharpen your business acumen and earn your seat at the C-Suite table
  • Creative Elements of Marketing: Unleash your creative potential and learn how to maintain strong client and agency relationships
  • Choice of 1 Specialization Elective: Brand, Media, Insights or AI
  • Compliance for Marketers: A micro-course
  • Summit: The final capstone course where you’ll master your marketing skills and get ready to showcase your new CM credentials

I found the Marketing in Canada course an excellent overview of marketing across all of Canada - though I am not new to Canada, there was so much I had to learn about the nuances across the provinces and the various industries in each market. I learned so much about how to market to audiences across Canada and not only the differences across Canada but a number of the similarities in markets.

The instructors who provided context on the different provinces were well-informed and easy to understand - you could tell they really had a breadth of experience marketing in each province. It was great that the course incorporated learnings from actual leaders in the industry.

I would recommend the course not only to those new the Canada or new the Marketing, but also those who are looking to learn more about marketing across Canada - if you have focused entirely on a singular province in your career, this course is a great way to expand knowledge and identify opportunities for marketing excellence.
