Human Services Foundation

Conestoga College’s Human Services Foundations certificate is a one-year preparatory program designed to help students explore and transition into a variety of career-focused pathways within the human services field. The program focuses on strengthening academic skills while building awareness of different professional options, allowing students to make informed decisions about their future studies and career direction. Through structured activities and exposure to related programs, students gain insight into the expectations, responsibilities, and personal fit required for success in human service professions.

The curriculum combines foundational academic courses with applied learning in areas such as interpersonal behaviour, developmental psychology, group dynamics, diversity, and social issues affecting communities. Students also develop essential communication, presentation, and career planning skills, alongside practical knowledge of human services practices. Graduates are well-prepared to pursue further education in programs such as Early Childhood Education, Social Service Worker, Recreation and Sport Administration, and other related fields, with a clearer understanding of their goals and the competencies needed to succeed.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
