Medical Clerk

The Medical Clerk program at Mohawk College prepares students for vital administrative roles in a variety of healthcare settings, including doctors’ offices, health clinics, and medical institutions. As key support professionals, Medical Clerks are responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations by maintaining accurate records, communicating effectively with patients and staff, and managing essential documentation with precision. This program builds the foundational knowledge needed to excel in these responsibilities, including an understanding of common medical conditions, accurate use of medical terminology, and familiarity with medical tests and surgical procedures.

Courses are taught by experienced industry professionals and delivered in a flexible, part-time online format, ideal for working individuals. Interactive and engaging, the curriculum may include live video conferencing sessions to support real-time learning. With a focus on professional communication, attention to detail, and technical skills such as typing and terminology accuracy, this program provides a comprehensive introduction to the medical office environment and prepares students to contribute confidently and competently in healthcare administration.

Admission Requirements

• Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Experience in a health care setting.
• Medical Keyboarding course recommended.
