Northern Lights College’s Veterinary Assistant program provides learners with the foundational knowledge and practical skills needed to pursue entry-level roles in veterinary clinics and animal care environments. Delivered online and instructor-moderated, the program is taught by a practicing veterinarian and experienced college instructor who guide students through the daily responsibilities and procedures commonly performed by veterinary assistants. Through structured coursework, learners gain a clear understanding of veterinary terminology, clinic operations, and the essential tasks involved in supporting veterinarians and veterinary technicians.
The program consists of a series of focused courses that explore key areas of veterinary practice, including practical clinical skills and specialized topics such as canine reproduction. Students build confidence by learning how veterinary teams operate, developing the knowledge needed to assist with routine animal care and communicate effectively in a clinical setting. By combining theoretical learning with practical insights from industry professionals, the program prepares graduates to confidently apply for veterinary assistant positions and begin contributing to animal health and care environments.
There are no prerequisites to take this course besides an interest in responsible breeding practices that promote the health of breeding dogs and their puppies.
