In Ontario College of Art & Design University (OCAD)’s Environmental Design: Interior Design Specialization program Learners will learn research, analysis, design, and presentation. How to take ideas and turn them into real plans and designs. Many graduates go on to graduate studies in architecture and environmental sciences.
In the first two years, learners will learn about colour and 2D Design, Environmental Design intro, Materials and Methods, Concept Drawing, Digital Design, Personal Space, Colour, Light and Environment, Structure, Presentation Drawing, History of Modern Design, History of Modern Architecture, and Social Space and Diversity.
Third year will feature classes of interest and more advanced courses, such as: Residential and Inclusivity, Introduction to Lighting, Accessible Design, Residential Systems and Materials, Retail and Hospitality, Research, and Commercial Systems and Materials.
In fourth year, focus will be on a major year-long interior design thesis project. Courses of interest in social sciences, visual and critical studies or humanities, plus: Interior Design: Residential, History and Theory of Interiors, Professional Practice, and Interior Design: Office.
