At Rotman Commerce, you’ll have the benefit of diversifying your undergraduate degree, while also building a foundation in the fundamentals of business from day one. Through your required and recommended introductory courses, you’ll have the knowledge and tools to chart a path through one of three specialist streams – Accounting, Finance & Economics, and Management.

At the beginning of your second year, you will choose to specialize in Management, Accounting, or Finance & Economics. What courses you take in your upper-year studies will depend on the specialist you choose. Each specialist has a combination of specific required courses, required elective courses, and optional elective courses. This ensures that you develop both the depth and breadth of knowledge required to prepare you for a meaningful and successful career.

It is also in your upper years that you can take advantage of opportunities that are exclusively available to Rotman Commerce students. Spend your summers studying abroad at one of the partner universities or gaining practical work experience by leveraging the support of the comprehensive Career Services.

The Rotman Commerce classroom is a vibrant place to learn from respected researchers, expert teachers, and industry professionals. Depending on the subject matter, your classes will be taught in a variety of ways that encompass lectures, guest speakers, case studies, work-integrated, and peer learning. You’ll have a chance to demonstrate your knowledge through a mix of group projects, presentations, essays, interviews, tests, and exams.

This is a great program and it has a top-notch reputation in Canada and globally (best business school on CourseCompare, top on Financial Times, Economist, QS global lists, etc.) But the reason I chose it was because it was flexible and close to home. Other than orientation week (a gruelling 7:30am-9pm schedule) I could manage the workload and professional responsibilities with two high school aged kids at home. I learned much about myself and leadership style and how to get more out of my team. I loved the diversity here: military leaders, government managers, a home builder were mixed in with the expected crowd of management consultants and executives. I even picked up some tricks in data analytics and Excel I didn't think were possible for a veteran like me. My only caution is the price tag -- a hefty $100k+. So I would encourage people to have their company foot the bill if possible.

This is the best business school in Canada, IMO. Employers recognize it and MBA grads have some of the best salaries in the country after graduation. The analytics program is basically a bolt-on to core business school, networks, curriculum, etc. just with profs that can take you deeper into data. Oh, and some of the best data scientists in the world are at UofT. If you're professionally mature and ready for a challenging master's program in Toronto, then you can't really go wrong here.
