If you’re ready to take on the challenges and rewards of a career in firefighting, this 12-month certificate program will prepare you for the front lines. Designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed for fire and rescue operations, the program covers everything from fire ground tactics and suppression to emergency medical response (EMR) and fire investigation.
Through hands-on experiential learning, students will train in fire apparatus operation, technical rescue, and hazardous materials response—building confidence and competence in high-pressure situations. The curriculum is designed to meet real-world demands, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for careers in firefighting, rescue services, and emergency response.
Accredited by the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office (OFM), this program also provides several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) professional qualifications. Graduates leave with the expertise, certification, and practical experience necessary to excel in the fire service industry and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Admission Requirements
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or equivalent.
- Grade 12 English, college or university.
- Grade 12 Math, college or university, or Grade 11 Functions, or equivalent.
- Two additional Grade 11 or 12 courses, excluding co-ops.
