Sheridan’s Theatre and Drama Studies (Honours Bachelor of Arts) program combines the intensive professional training of an acting school with the academic preparation of an honours-level drama degree. No other drama and theatre program in Canada offers a comparable education.

Gain professional-calibre experience in studio classes at Sheridan, department productions and crew placements. In your graduating year, you’ll participate in two public productions, as well as industry events such as the Next Generation Showcase.

You’ll attend both institutions simultaneously. At UTM, you’ll take drama courses covering the history, theory and literature of Western drama and film. Acting classes and theatre studies take place at Sheridan and feature small, intimate class sizes and personalized acting instruction, with emphasis on elements of acting, voice and text, on-camera techniques, stage combat and devised/solo projects.

This unique theatre program provides you with an exceptionally broad range of opportunities to develop and express your creativity — and a wide variety of drama and theatre career options to explore after graduation.

The workload is heavy, with many hours of rehearsal and theatre production added to classroom and personal study time. But you’ll enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork of theatre life, and you’ll graduate with a four-year honours degree (with specialist certification) from UTM and a two-year (equivalent) Sheridan diploma.

What You’ll Learn

  • First two years in studio courses focused on acting fundamentals
  • Expanded focus in third and fourth year on audition and rehearsal skills
  • An introduction to theatre business practices

I’m in the computer science program at Sheridan college in Oakville. Specifically, I study mobile computing. That means I develop apps for smartphones.

To me, the campus environment is great. The school is known for excellent programs and excellent sports (go Bruins). My program consists of a lot of code writing, collaborating with designers, and trial and error. Our instructors have built apps of their own, which you can download to your phones today. It is great having instructors who actually know what they are talking about.

I knew I wanted to attend Sheridan as soon as I got to the campus tour. The modern design and clean campus made me feel at home and inspired me to work harder on each and every assignment so far. Anyone looking for a great computer science program does not need to look any farther.

There's a weird narrative out there about Sheridan only caring about international students. I'm a domestic student and I finished my advanced diploma in marketing last year, which included the search marketing course. My profs were industry professionals who were extremely helpful and approachable. Most of them knew me by my first name.

I'm working at an agency in downtown Toronto right now and loving every second of it. I highly recommend the school and the program.
