Integrating diversity and inclusion into early childhood studies, Ryerson’s Master of Arts in Early Childhood Studies is unique in North America. Terms such as “diversity” and “inclusion” are used in the broadest sense to include issues of linguistic, cultural and racial identity as well as disability, gender, class, sexuality, age and migration status. This approach is in recognition of a child’s need to develop a positive identity, not only as an individual but also as a member of a group. In this program, you will develop a deep understanding of the complex issues connected to children in contemporary society.

There are 2 streams offered in this program: Master’s Research Paper (MRP) or Courses Stream and both are offered with full-time or part-time options. Once full-time students complete the first term of the program, they will decide whether to pursue the MRP Stream or Courses Stream, based on their interests, skills and future aspirations. Part-time students make this decision following a year of study.

Ryerson’s Master of Arts (MA) in Early Childhood Studies Master’s Research Paper (MRP) stream offers you the opportunity to pursue a research project on a topic of your choice, after completing seven courses. Writing an MRP — with the guidance and support of a faculty member — is a great way to direct your own learning, pursue a specific research interest and contribute to the field of early childhood studies.

Ryerson’s Master of Arts (MA) in Early Childhood Studies Courses Stream offers you the opportunity to take a variety of courses focusing on diversity and inclusion relating to young children and their families. Students in the Courses Stream take eight elective courses, rather than the five taken by the MRP students, enjoying the opportunity to study a broad spectrum of topics in a more structured learning environment.

This is one of the best film schools in Canada. They have great studios that are sponsored by Rogers. The campus is right downtown close to the action of the film industry. I really liked the balance of theory and hands on production in the classroom. You also get to work with analog film and take a study abroad option!
