Toronto Metropolitan University’s Master of Arts in Fashion program takes a critically informed approach to fashion studies by examining the broader social, cultural and economic implications of the production, promotion and consumption of fashion. Throughout the program, students develop advanced research skills and work closely with subject matter experts to complete a written or creative Major Research Project (MRP). The MA degree is earned after the completion of coursework and the MRP.
During the two-year program, students have access to mentorship, teaching assistantships, advanced technology, production workshops, an incubator-style zone, as well as research and creative support.
Students will have access to:
Fashion Studies: An open-access, academic journal in fashion.
The Catalyst: An interdisciplinary scholarly, research and creative hub.
The Fashion Research Collection: A research space housing 3,500+ historical and contemporary garments, accessories and objects.
Fashion Zone: An incubator dedicated to fashion innovation
Collaboratory: An interdisciplinary research space equipped with 3D printers, laser cutter, and prototyping tools.
