Community Services and Mental Health Worker

The Community Services and Mental Health Worker program at triOS College is designed to prepare learners for meaningful careers supporting individuals, families, and communities facing mental health and social challenges. Through a comprehensive and practical curriculum, students explore key subjects such as psychology, sociology, counselling, family dynamics, addictions, and criminology—building a strong foundation for work in community care. The program emphasizes mental health and addiction awareness, crisis intervention, treatment planning, and program development, ensuring graduates are equipped to support diverse populations with empathy, cultural sensitivity, and professionalism.

Alongside academic learning, students develop essential skills in communication, documentation, ethics, and case management, while gaining an understanding of trauma-informed practice, resilience, and self-care. Learners also earn a range of industry-recognized certifications—including Mental Health First Aid, Verbal Intervention, Naloxone Administration, AODA, and more—ensuring they graduate with the competencies and confidence needed to make a meaningful impact in the community services and mental health field.

The program includes an 8-week (200-hour) internship option that provides valuable real-world experience in settings such as shelters, mental health centres, addiction recovery organizations, and community agencies.
