Dr. MLK Jr. asserted that it is “Intelligence plus character—that is the goal of true education.” My pursuit of this belief motivated my decision to pursue my Master’s degree at Yorkville University.

As a private institution offering a growing array of degree opportunities through a hybrid educational format, Yorkville is uniquely positioned as an institution invested in the future of education. In-person learning is available on the Fredericton, Toronto, and Vancouver campuses, while their online learning platform allows students to attend school without significant disruption to their everyday lives.

Yorkville’s strong virtual focus lays the groundwork for recruiting a high-caliber team of educators; they can attract top educators without being limited to local candidates. As a result, the quality of their educators is, in my opinion, second to none.

The core M.Ed. curriculum was reflected throughout my Yorkville experience by how the university operates. Inclusivity, diversity, equality, and accessibility are at the heart of Yorkville’s mission.

My experience highlights Yorkville’s ongoing commitment to continuous improvement. They provide easy access to information, listen to feedback, and maintain a robust support program. Professors are readily accessible and quick to respond to questions. The education I received has expanded my leadership abilities, reaffirmed my strengths, and provided a solid foundation for identifying and developing new opportunities.

Successfully completing my M.Ed. Leadership in Learning program was not easy. It required a consistent and focused approach, but walking across the stage at convocation was one of the most significant and satisfying accomplishments of my life—one that validated my time and effort.

Therefore, I have no hesitation in strongly recommending that anyone dedicated to starting or continuing their learning journey consider Yorkville University as one of their top choices. I am confident that you will find it as rewarding as I did.

And I believe, in choosing Yorkville - you will be equally satisfied with your choice.

My experience in the Doctor of Counselling and Psychotherapy (DCP) program at Yorkville University has been exceptional in every regard. From the outset, I was impressed by the well-thought-out curriculum, which demonstrated a clear thematic flow and intentional integration from one course to the next. Each course built upon previous knowledge while preparing the foundation for what was to come, allowing for a cohesive and holistic learning experience that mirrored the progressive nature of professional clinical development.

The Applied Scholarship Project (ASP) component of the program was particularly enriching. It was thoughtfully designed to walk students through the steps of conducting high-level secondary research, equipping us with the skills and confidence to produce work of publishable quality. The structure, resources, and guidance provided throughout this process ensured not only academic rigor but also a deep understanding of research methodology and its relevance to clinical practice. I found the process transformative in sharpening my critical thinking and my ability to contribute meaningfully to the field.

The faculty and instructors were without a doubt one of the strongest assets of the program. Every professor I encountered was highly engaged, enthusiastic, and deeply committed to student success. Their approach was not only academically rigorous but also nurturing and encouraging, fostering a learning environment where students felt seen, supported, and challenged to grow. They consistently responded to inquiries promptly and thoughtfully, showing a genuine investment in our learning journeys. It was clear that they believed in our potential and faculty, and they were always ready to provide constructive feedback, mentorship, and encouragement.

The academic leadership of the DCP program was deeply connected to the student body and played an instrumental role in fostering a supportive and responsive learning environment. They created regular opportunities for students to connect, interact, and provide feedback, whether through check-in sessions or open communication channels. Leadership consistently demonstrated that student voices were heard and valued, and they took active steps to address concerns, clarify expectations, and implement suggestions where appropriate.

Class discussions and online forums were a valuable part of the program. These interactive spaces encouraged us to think critically, engage collegially, and learn from the diverse perspectives of our peers. The dialogue and exchange of ideas in these settings enhanced my understanding of complex concepts and expanded my worldview. We were encouraged to compliment and challenge each other’s contributions respectfully, which led to a rich and dynamic academic environment.

The assignments throughout the program were varied in format, offering students multiple avenues to demonstrate learning and apply knowledge. Whether through written papers, video presentations, audio submissions, or interactive assignments, the program provided a broad and diverse platform for engagement. This variety not only catered to different learning styles but also helped develop a well-rounded skill set applicable to both academic and clinical settings.

In addition to the academic excellence, the library and research support staff were outstanding. Their expertise, accessibility, and willingness to help played a significant role in my academic success. They consistently guided me toward appropriate resources, helped with database navigation, and encouraged the use of scholarly tools that enriched my research. Their presence was both instrumental and reassuring, particularly during the more demanding stages of the program.

What stood out the most was how Yorkville University genuinely lives out its motto: "Achieve Your Possible." This was not just a slogan but a lived reality in the program. Education here is not about acquiring knowledge in isolation; it is about integrating learning into the practical realities of professional and personal life. The curriculum, faculty, and support systems were all aligned to help students grow not just academically, but also professionally and personally.

I wholeheartedly recommend the DCP program at Yorkville University to any prospective student seeking a high-quality doctoral education in counselling and psychotherapy. It is a program that not only equips you with advanced knowledge and skills but also fosters personal growth, critical thinking, and real-world application, all within a deeply supportive academic community.
