The Traditional Chinese Medicine-Acupuncture Diploma (TCM-AD) program is a full-time limited intake program with six continuous semesters (Fall, Spring, Summer, Fall, Spring, Summer). It is three academic years, condensed into two full calendar years, and is run at KPU’s Richmond campus. Combining ancient Chinese philosophy with Western biomedical science, students develop the necessary skills to work in the acupuncture and Chinese medicine industry. The program offers a student teaching clinic on campus, which provides students with hands-on experience and knowledge in patient care in a live clinical setting, all while supervised by instructors who are certified practitioners, acupuncturists, or Doctors of TCM.

This is a comprehensive program including courses in English and Mandarin language, communication, Ancient Chinese philosophy, and Western biomedical sciences which are necessary for the critical understanding and development of complex Traditional Chinese Medicine concepts. The curriculum has been designed to offer an education of significant breadth and rigor within the contexts of TCM/Acupuncture fundamental theory, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical practice. The program includes 460 hours of practice. Through these experiential learning activities, students will actively engage with the community.

The diploma includes a variety of courses in theory, as well as diagnosis, treatment, and clinical practice. Select courses in Mandarin are also required for the program and give students an advantage in clinical settings. Upon graduation, students will be eligible to write the national registration exam for acupuncture practitioners in Canada, as well as the Pan-Canadian licensing exam, and become members of the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA).

There is so much offered at KPU, not just great classes but all the different clubs and free facilities and events. A lot of the teachers are awesome and the classes are small so you get to know everyone pretty well.
