The Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic Foundation program provides the skills and knowledge necessary for employment as a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic apprentice.
Students will apply and extend their academic knowledge and practical skills during a one-week supervised field practice in an industry setting where they will interact and build relationships with prospective employers and other tradespeople.
What You’ll Learn
- Apply safe work practices specific to the refrigeration and air conditioning trade within a variety of work environments.
- Describe the different roles, functions, culture, and characteristics of the pipe trades in relation to other trades.
- Use a variety of tools and equipment to demonstrate their applications, procedures for use, and maintenance.
- Apply organizational skills to facilitate the efficient and accurate completion of work related tasks and projects.
- Describe the materials and the associated installation procedures.
- Assemble and test basic electrical circuits and components.
- Describe and install a variety of refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
- Contribute to effective working relationships in industry and workplace settings.
- Integrate classroom learning and practical industry experience as it relates to the student’s career path.

Intimate campus, small class sizes and amazing teachers. Was cheaper than UVic. Hard not to love this place.
