To qualify for the Commercial Pilot course, students must have a minimum of 200 total flight hours, including 100 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) time, with at least 20 hours of cross-country (X-Country) experience. Any prior flight time can be credited toward the Commercial Pilot course, although additional time-building may be necessary to meet the required hours.
Students should have the following materials: Harv’s Air CPL Manual, From the Ground Up, Flight Training Manual, Plotter, Flight Computer (E6B or CX2), Pilot Training Record (PTR), Logbook, and Winnipeg VNC/VTA Charts (Foreflight or similar software is acceptable), along with the Pilot Operating Handbook.
The Commercial Pilot course consists of 65 hours of flight training and 80 hours of ground school. This includes training for both a Night rating and a VFR-over-the-Top rating. The flight training breakdown includes 35 hours of dual instruction, 10 hours of advanced dual instruction (which must include at least 5 hours of cross-country), 20 hours of instrument time, 5 hours of dual night flying, 30 hours of solo flight time, 25 hours of general practice (including air work and radio communication), and 5 hours of solo night flying. Additionally, students must complete a straight-line cross-country flight of at least 300 nautical miles, with landings at three airports other than the departure airport. Ground school covers a minimum of 40 hours, including instruction on Air Law, Meteorology, Navigation, and general knowledge.

Admission Requirements

- Class 1 medical, obtained from a, Aviation medical examiner.
- Knowledge of English or French.
