University of Manitoba’s Bachelor of Social Work (Fort Garry campus) is a professionally accredited program designed to prepare students as generalist social work practitioners with strong foundations in theory, practice, research, and social policy analysis. The program emphasizes social action, social justice, and social change, equipping students to critically engage with the structural causes of inequality and to support individuals, families, and communities through ethical and informed practice. As one of only two accredited social work programs in Manitoba and the only English-language program of its kind in the province, it holds national recognition that supports mobility and professional opportunities across Canada.
The program is delivered through multiple study locations and flexible delivery options to accommodate students from diverse academic and life backgrounds. A strong commitment to educational equity is embedded throughout the curriculum, with initiatives aimed at improving access for First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples, racialized communities, immigrants and refugees, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ individuals. Grounded in a mission to transform unjust social systems and promote human and environmental rights, the BSW program prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to social work practice that advances equity, inclusion, and community well-being.

UofM Nursing program is absolutely terrible. If you are interested in nursing, move to another province. The entire first year is just repeat of your prerequisite courses, and there’s barely nursing. A couple of the courses are useless to your career...
