The University of Manitoba’s certificate in applied counselling program is ideal for learners who are already working or volunteering in a counselling environment.
The certificate program puts heavy emphasis on developing practical counselling strategies, and is designed for those who have already dealt with aiding traumatic issues prior to enrolling. The University of Manitoba placed emphasis on integrating Indigenous perspectives and worldviews into several of the courses in this program, as Indigenous peoples are among the fastest growing demographics in both the province and Canada. The program was also designed around the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 94 Calls to Action, as the school continues to recognize diverse worldviews, traditions, and ways of knowing.
