Ontario Truck Training Academy provides classroom training every other week for new students interested in a commercial drivers license. Practical instruction includes circle checks, in-cab training and driving skills and coupling. Classroom training for students includes an introduction to trucking, air brake endorsement (Z), Commercial Driver Improvement Course (CDIC), Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), log books, load securement, pre-trip-inspection, trip planning, and standard transmission training course.

The AZ course follows the Tractor-Trailer Driver Handbook, which is the latest in curriculum for tractor-trailer driver training, complete with up-to-date compliance and regulation standards. This edition delivers not only the technical content the driver needs to know, but also teaches the procedures that, with practice, will enable the student to become a skilled driver. This text book stresses the importance of developing the skills, traits and behaviors that characterize true professionals. Professional truck drivers must maintain safe standards throughout all facets of a trip, and this book provides the “must have” information new drivers need to stay safe before, during, and after a route. Coverage focuses on attaining and preserving safe standards throughout all aspects of a professional driving career, from securing one’s load to hazardous materials handling, with helpful guidelines for maintaining a healthy lifestyle on the road.

I been driving Transport for 40 years, then severe injury happened, retired 2009 and now 2025 getting recertified for CDL. I never knew of the MTO MELT program. Make a long story short My son encourage me to come back, so I took the course Now I'm doing the whole thing over again,. Robin who managed the Belleville office is very courteous and and done a top notch job getting me started. Phil was my instructor, he is a fantastic trainer, along with John who more than helped me get caught back up in the MELT Program. I highly recommend any new driver or an Old Geezer like myself who wants a second go round behind the wheel of a big Truck ask Phil or John, I know in my heart they will help you fulfill your career dreams.
