Food Services

The Food Service program at Mohawk College is designed to prepare individuals for rewarding careers in the food services departments of long-term care and healthcare facilities. This specialized program equips students with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to meet the dietary and nutritional needs of patients and residents in clinical environments. Emphasizing key areas such as food safety, sanitation, menu planning, and nutrition, the program blends online theoretical learning with valuable hands-on fieldwork experience.

Students gain an in-depth understanding of large-quantity food preparation, dietary requirements, and the role of nutrition in health and healing. Courses also cover essential communication skills for interacting effectively within healthcare teams and with clients. Upon completion, graduates are well-prepared to contribute to the efficient and safe operation of food service departments in hospitals, long-term care homes, and other healthcare settings, helping to promote wellness through proper nutrition and food handling practices.
