Masters of Engineering Computer Networking and Security Specialization

The University of Waterloo’s Master of Engineering (MEng) in Electrical and Computer Engineering offers students the opportunity to develop advanced knowledge in computer networking and security through a specialized graduate focus. The Graduate Specialization in Computer Networking and Security explores the technologies, protocols, and security challenges that shape modern communication systems. Students build expertise through courses such as Broadband Communication Networks, Computer Network Security, and Protocols, Software, and Issues in Mobile Systems, gaining a deeper understanding of network infrastructure, secure communications, and mobile technologies.

To complete the specialization, students also select electives that allow them to tailor their studies to their interests and career goals. Options include Algorithm Design and Analysis, Information Theory, Database Systems, Introduction to Machine Learning, Intelligent Sensors and Wireless Sensor Networks, Wireless Communication Networks, and Communication Security.
