Students in MC College’s Fashion Design program have the opportunity to create an eight look collection that will be showcased in their annual New Designers Fashion Show. Students will work with makeup artists, hairstylists, photographers and a modelling agency to bring their vision to life on the runway.
Using industry connections, instructors will help students lock down an internship individually suited to each student’s professional goals and skills.
Graduates of MC College’s Fashion Design program have gone on to have career opportunities as Design Assistant, Independent Designer, Clothing Boutique Owner, Fashion Merchandiser, and Retail Store Manager.
What You’ll Learn
- Fashion fundamentals: design and colour theory, history of costume, market research, and textiles.
- Clothing line production: flat pattern creation, technical sketches, production sewing, spec packages, illustration, pattern drafting, draping, fashion illustration, and pattern grading.
- Collection development: story boards, buyer’s presentation, fashion show promotion, photo shoots, and New Designers Fashion Show.
- The business of fashion: portfolio presentation, merchandising, press packages, catalogues, hang tags, marketing, costing, and labels.
