Eastern College’s Medical Office Administration program prepares students to become skilled and confident Medical Office Administrators (MOAs), essential professionals in Canada’s healthcare system. Over 46 weeks, the program combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on training, covering medical billing, bookkeeping, provincial health systems, and administrative procedures used in clinics, hospitals, and medical offices. Students also gain experience with EMR simulations, billing scenarios, and professional communication, ensuring they are ready to support healthcare teams effectively from day one.
The program includes a 200-hour (8-week) internship that provides real-world experience and strengthens job readiness, along with CPR and First Aid certification. Graduates are eligible to write the Health Information–Certified Associate (HICA) exam through CHIMA, earning a nationally recognized credential that sets them apart in the healthcare job market. Training in Microsoft Office, digital literacy, and hospital unit procedures further enhances career opportunities, equipping students with the practical skills and professional confidence to succeed as MOAs.
