Mohawk College’s Mental Health and Disability Management program equips working professionals with the knowledge and skills to support individuals with mental health challenges and dual diagnoses across the lifespan. Delivered in an executive-format with hybrid evening sessions, the program combines research-informed curriculum with applied learning experiences, including full-time on-site field placements. Students gain hands-on exposure to industry practices and develop strategies to support clients through direct service, policy, or research roles, all while engaging with a wide network of community and industry partners across healthcare, social services, and education.
The program emphasizes evidence-based intervention strategies, simulation exercises, and multidisciplinary collaboration to prepare graduates for professional practice. Students learn to assess mental health and disability prevalence, design intervention and treatment plans, and advocate for individuals and families to reduce stigma and improve access to services. With a focus on ethical practice, professional growth, and client-centered approaches, graduates emerge ready to apply practical solutions and promote positive change in diverse community and organizational settings.
