Computer animation has evolved to become a major component in the field of animation production and contributes towards shaping content for film, television, games and online applications. As such, students must be actively engaged in all aspects of the production process and understand the requirements associated with the production pipeline. Traditional design, drawing and storytelling skills are enhanced via the latest computer (software/hardware), combined with 3D animation skills and the creation of characters and customized environments contribute towards the creation of unique content that graduates will utilize in their e-portfolio of project work.
What You’ll Learn
- Design visual effects sequences using storyboarding and pre-visualization that meet production requirements.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues and clients throughout all stages of production.
- Complete the production of live action plates for use in visual effects.
- Manage the planning, implementation and production of animation and visual effects projects to meet production schedules.
- Select appropriate hardware and software protocols specific to the field of visual effects.
- Analyze images and physical sets to digitally re-create lights, cameras, locations and objects.
- Create photo-real images to match live action footage.
- Recreate natural phenomena by using appropriate particle or dynamic effects and the principles of performance theory.
- Integrate 2D and/or 3D computer generated imagery and live action elements.
- Create customized tools through software or scripting to allow for more advanced application of visual effects techniques.
- Work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams on the production of visual effects.
- Assemble digital assets such as background, environment, characters and objects, according to project brief using production pipeline methodologies.
- Present an e-portfolio of animation projects that highlights one’s creativity, animation skills and proficiency with relevant 3D- animation technologies.
